About Me

I'm Louis, a Cloud and DevOps engineer with over 6 years at the University of Bordeaux’s IT Department. I evolved from a Windows Systems Engineer role to a DevOps Engineer one, managing complex infrastructures and deployments for thousands of users.

My skills cover automation, container orchestration and CI/CD, Linux/Windows systems, Infrastructure as Code, Azure, and Active Directory ecosystem.

Currently enhancing my Cloud and DevOps expertise by pursuing Azure AZ-104 and Kubernetes CKA certifications, while exploring AI solution integration.

Now based between France and Indonesia, I’m looking for remote work opportunities (freelance or full-time employment) in France or internationally. To that end, I’ve simplified my life to enable complete location independence.

My take on AI: I believe it’s important nowadays to be clear about how we approach it. I see it as a powerful assistant, not a magic wand. I always need to read, understand, and verify the results before implementing them. No blind copy-pasting here.

Open Journal Systems Containerization

Containerized Open Journal Systems (OJS) for automated, scalable deployment on Kubernetes clusters.
Implemented isolated journal instances, each with a dedicated pod and MariaDB database managed via a Kubernetes operator.
Leveraged Helm charts and templating for consistent deployments across environments with CI/CD pipelines.
Managed data migration from legacy VM deployments while deploying new, isolated instances.

IaC with GitOps Workflow

Developed a comprehensive IaC solution for OpenStack deployments using Terraform modules.
Structured code into reusable modules for enhanced readability and maintainability. VMs, load balancers, virtual networks and other infrastructure services.
Implemented GitOps workflow with GitLab CI/CD, tf-controller, and Flux CD for automated infrastructure provisioning and drift detection.

Active Directory and OpenLDAP Account Synchronization

Developed modular PowerShell scripts to synchronize over 60,000 user accounts from OpenLDAP to Active Directory, including account provisioning and lifecycle management with Kerberos authentication integration.
Implemented LDAP attribute-based group membership assignment and secure random password generation, ensuring seamless identity management across systems.

Automated Application Deployment with Ansible

Some Ansible playbooks examples for automated deployment of web applications (iTop, GLPI) with complete infrastructure provisioning.
Handling base system configuration, dependency management, SSL certificate provisioning, and application customization.

Troubleshooting example: RocketChat Data Recovery on Kubernetes

Executed critical data recovery operation following a production incident where RocketChat message retention was accidentally reduced from 6 to 1 month, resulting in 5 months of data loss.
Performed forensic analysis of MongoDB and Kubernetes persistent volume backups to recover lost messages and attachments, implementing seamless production restoration with zero downtime.

This certification provided the foundation for my Windows Systems Engineer role (2018-2022).
