About Me

I'm Louis, a freelance Platform Engineer specializing in Kubernetes, cloud and Infrastructure as Code. I spent over 6 years at the University of Bordeaux’s IT Department, evolving from a Windows Systems Engineer role to a DevOps Engineer one, managing complex infrastructures and deployments for 60,000+ users.

My skills cover automation, container orchestration and CI/CD, Linux/Windows systems, Infrastructure as Code, Azure, and Active Directory ecosystem.

I've recently earned my Azure AZ-104 and Kubernetes CKA certifications, further deepening my Cloud and DevOps expertise.

Since July 2026, I've been helping teams take back control of their infrastructure as a freelancer: stabilizing an existing Kubernetes cluster, turning a hand-built setup into code, or industrializing their deployments. I work fully remote, with occasional travel when needed.

My take on AI: I use it actively, and I don't hide it. It boosts my productivity and lets me learn a lot by answering all my questions and scenarios, from the basic ones to the most twisted :) I see it more as a powerful assistant than a magic wand: I need to read, understand, and verify every result before implementing it. No blind copy-pasting here.

Open Journal Systems Containerization

Containerized Open Journal Systems (OJS) for automated, scalable deployment on Kubernetes clusters.
Implemented isolated journal instances, each with a dedicated pod and MariaDB database managed via a Kubernetes operator.
Leveraged Helm charts and templating for consistent deployments across environments with CI/CD pipelines.

Developed a comprehensive IaC solution for OpenStack deployments using Terraform modules.

Implemented GitOps workflow with GitLab CI/CD, tf-controller, and Flux CD for automated infrastructure provisioning and drift detection.

Developed modular PowerShell scripts to synchronize over 60,000 user accounts from OpenLDAP to Active Directory, including account provisioning and lifecycle management with Kerberos authentication integration.
Implemented LDAP attribute-based group membership assignment and secure random password generation, ensuring seamless identity management across systems.

Troubleshooting example: RocketChat Data Recovery on Kubernetes

Executed critical data recovery operation following a production incident where RocketChat message retention was accidentally reduced from 6 to 1 month, resulting in 5 months of data loss.
Performed forensic analysis of MongoDB and Kubernetes persistent volume backups to recover lost messages and attachments, implementing seamless production restoration with zero downtime.
